The Memory Keepers Daughter
Mom just sent a package for the kids and in it she sent me a novel, The Memory Keepers Daughter by Kim Edwards. I'm planning on starting it soon and was interested to know if anyone else would like to read along with me and we could discuss the book, chapter by chapter. I could scan a chapter at a time and email it to you if you're interested. This would be a great opportunity for English learners to develop vocabulary and language usage, as well as for English speakers to stretch the old grey matter a bit, with a lively analysis of what the author is trying to say, how she is saying it, where we think the novel is going, etc. Let me know ASAP as it would be great if we could all read it together.
Re: The Memory Keepers Daughter
That's great! Give me a couple of days to hook up my scanner and send the 1st chapter, lets wait a few more days to see if we can get anyone else to join our reading circle, maybe we could do like 2 chapters a week, with time to interact in between, recap, have fun with it, depending on our group we can speed up or slow down accordingly, It'll be fun, can't wait to get started. Come on Guys! Let's hear from you!

Re: The Memory Keepers Daughter
I'll be sending out the first chapter today, so if you haven't listed your email in your profile and you need the material, PM me your email address so we can get going. If you come to this thread at some time in the future, please go ahead and PM me just the same, it's never too late to make a new friend, or read a good book.
About the Book/Author:
This novel The Memory Keeper's Daughter was a NY Times #1 Bestseller. According to it's review it is "Absolutely mesmerizing". Twins delivered during a snowstorm back in 1964, one is sent away, and a tale of family secrets and the redemptive power of love ensues.
Kim Edwards is an Award winning author and an assistant professor of English at the University of Kentucky.
This reading and sharing of her works is an educational endeavor and I believe that she would approve of our use of her novel.
Thanks, Kim

CLASS IS IN SESSION!
For those of you that received the first chapter, how do you like the novel so far? Is it holding your attention? What about style? and foreshadowing? Do you care about the characters? Are they being developed? Did you find any typos? Is there anything confusing about the authors style?
Let's get a little feedback and discussion before moving on to the second chapter...
